Alpaca have long been redeemed for their luxurious coats of fiber. The alpaca fiber is very easy to process and work with, and creates some of the highest quality wool yarn in the world. Having extreme warmth and water resistance of wool, without having the lanolin of sheep, which requires more extensive cleaning, alpaca wool is the best wool for felting or making yarn.
One less redeeming aspect, but underestimated value, of the alpaca is that if it’s poop. Alpaca “beans” are highly prized fertilizer with the benefit of direct application without burning plants. They provide a very balanced fertilizer that is slow releasing and good for water retention.
Since we began using alpaca in our gardens in 2010, we have seen amazing results repeatedly and now we depend on the alpaca beans for our successful harvest. It is amazing to now have access to our very own Alpacaca from our best dudes at the ranch! We love our alpaca and are happy to give them a good home with lots of fruity treats! The apples, plums, and blackberries make our alpacas beans extra sweet!
